CAMDEN, Ohio (AP) -- People in a small southwest Ohio community are mourning a 31-year-old mother of three who was an active school volunteer.
Dozens of friends, relatives and colleagues held a candlelight vigil Tuesday night to honor Brandy Brandenburg at the soccer fields near Camden Primary School. The JournalNews of Hamilton reports (http://bit.ly/14XXBJN ) that the gathering in the community of some 2,000 people included songs and a balloon launch.
Brandenburg was killed Aug. 27 when the minivan she was driving was hit by a freight train at a private crossing that leads to the Brandenburg home's driveway. The Preble County sheriff's office has said there was a stopped train on the double tracks and she apparently didn't see the second train coming on the other track.
Her 8-year-old son is recovering from injuries.
