RIPLEY, Ohio (AP) -- A young Ohio woman and her unborn child have been laid to rest a week after they were gunned down in a case that remains unsolved.
A funeral for 22-year-old Brittany Stykes and her unborn baby was held at Wednesday morning at Saltair Church of Christ in Tate, about 30 miles southeast of Cincinnati. It was followed by their burial.
Authorities were responding to a call Aug. 28 about a single-vehicle crash when they found Stykes shot dead inside her car on U.S. Route 68 in Ripley, 45 miles southeast of Cincinnati. She was five months pregnant.
Her 14-month-old daughter, Aubree, was found in her car seat bleeding from a gunshot wound to the head.
Aubree's grandfather says the toddler is improving daily and has been talking.
