NAPLES, Italy (AP) -- Britain held off a comeback attempt from Italy to win the doubles match and take a 2-1 lead in their Davis Cup quarterfinal on Saturday.
Andy Murray and Colin Fleming beat Fabio Fognini and Simone Bolelli 6-3, 6-2, 3-6, 7-5 in three hours to boost Britain's bid to reach the semifinals for the first time since 1981.
Earlier, Murray completed a 6-4, 7-5, 6-3 victory over Andreas Seppi in their delayed singles match.
Britain looked on course for a straight-set victory but the Italian duo saved four break points at the start of the third set and went on to get a foothold in the match.
Italy has not lost at home to Britain since 1926 and is hoping to reach the semifinals for the first time in 16 years.
