BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -- Valladolid beat 10-man Almeria 1-0 at home on Sunday to provisionally escape the relegation zone in the Spanish league.
Valladolid striker Manucho scored what proved to be the winner in the sixth minute when he tapped in a cross.
Jesus Rueda came close to doubling the lead with a free kick that clipped the crossbar in the 73rd.
Two minutes later Almeria defender Marco Torsiglieri was dismissed with his second yellow card for fouling Manucho.
The result left both sides level on points on the edge of the drop zone.
Later, Real Sociedad visits Osasuna, Villarreal hosts Elche, and Valencia welcomes Getafe.
Atletico Madrid leads the league by one point over Barcelona and three points over Real Madrid.
