Mourinho lone voice of dissent on Wenger's big day

LONDON (AP) -- High-profile figures from English football have lined up to pay tribute to Arsene Wenger as the Frenchman prepares to take charge of his 1,000th match as Arsenal manager.

Jose Mourinho refused to join in the acclaim, however.

The Chelsea manager couldn't resist a dig at a rival he has clashed with several times in recent years, most recently calling him a "specialist in failure" after going eight seasons without winning a trophy.

When asked on Friday for a tribute to Wenger, Mourinho says "the tribute is to say we would love to have the same privilege (of being given time) with our clubs."

Mourinho praised Arsenal for standing by Wenger "in bad moments -- of which there were quite a lot."

Wenger's landmark match is against Chelsea on Saturday.
