BARCELONA, Spain (AP) -- Almeria edged Getafe 1-0 courtesy of striker Jonathan Zongo's second-half header on Sunday to escape the Spanish league's relegation zone.

Visiting Getafe outplayed Almeria in the first half but never came closer than Rafael Lopez's header that hit the crossbar a minute before halftime.

Zongo jumped above his marker to turn in Jesus "Suso" Fernandez's corner kick for the 49th-minute winner.

Almeria ended a streak of two consecutive losses as it pushed Valladolid back down into the drop zone with Rayo Vallecano and Real Betis.

Getafe remained in the middle of the standings but winless in the last six rounds.

Later, Barcelona hosts Malaga, Atletico Madrid visits Rayo, and Athletic Bilbao is at Osasuna.
