ATHENS, Greece (AP) -- Asteras moved to within a point of second-place PAOK by beating the visiting side 1-0 in the Greek league on Saturday.
Ximo Navarro's header off a corner kick in the 24th minute was all Asteras needed. The hosts also hit the post with Emanuel Perone's shot in the 17th.
PAOK's defeat allows league leader Olympiakos to add to its 10-point lead if it beats visiting Giannena on Sunday.
Olympiakos fired coach Leonardo Jardim earlier Saturday. Assistant Antonis Nikopolidis was named interim coach.
Also, Panathinaikos failed to hold on to its lead and let visiting Panthrakikos escape with a 1-1 draw. Veteran striker Dimitris Papadopoulos, who played for Panathinaikos from 2003-08, scored the equalizer, neutralizing Toche's goal.
OFI beat Panionios 2-1 to vault over Panathinaikos and Panthrakikos into seventh place.
