MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 05/05/14 -- Treasure Data, a cloud data service provider, today announced it has been named as one of four "Cool Vendors in Big Data, 2014"(i) in a report by Gartner, Inc., the world's leading information technology research and advisory company.

Gartner offers world-class, objective insight on a wide variety of IT solutions, and each year publishes a series of research reports that evaluate "Cool Vendors" in key areas of technology. The Gartner's "Cool Vendors in Big Data, 2014" report states that, "big data is moving from being a topic and a concept in itself, to becoming a value-add to existing use cases, such as data science, data integration, analytics and information innovation."

"We believe being chosen as a Cool Vendor by Gartner validates Treasure Data's vision of providing a simple, cost-effective big data solution that gets customers into production in days, which is not common in the industry," says Hiro Yoshikawa, CEO of Treasure Data. "We feel it's an honor to have been included in this category. The market is competitive, with a number of products emerging and we're thrilled to be a recognized innovator in the space."

Treasure Data provides a cloud-based, end-to-end big data solution that includes data acquisition, storage and analysis capabilities delivered as a managed service. The service utilizes Amazon Web Services (AWS) and a modified Hadoop stack, based on Treasure Data's own Plazma columnar database for maximum performance. Treasure Data's model as a managed service provider also means that clients don't need any Hadoop knowledge to leverage its benefits. Using Treasure Agent, a unique data collection solution, clients can collect various types of data, such as Web logs, application logs, sensor data and machine data, and easily send the data to the cloud environment for analysis.

In addition to its cloud data service plans, Treasure Data offers industry-specific big data analysis solutions for digital gaming, advertising technology, digital marketing and "the Internet of Things" applications. So, customers in these industries can utilize industry-specific data collection knowhow and dashboards for standard KPIs.

As of March 2014, more than 4 trillion rows of data from over 100 paying enterprise customers from across Asia/Pacific, North America and Europe, have been loaded into the Treasure Data Service, and the volume of data is increasing exponentially.
