The Inaugural Summa Wellness Institute Vertical Runner Indoor triathlon took place on Sunday February 24th. A triathlon consists of swimming, biking and running and this took place inside the Summa Wellness facility located off of Darrow Road.
The race was the inaugural race put on by VR Triathlon, sponsored by the Hudson store of the same name. This race was the first of the season for most participants who challenged themselves through the 10 minute swim, 25 minute bike and 20 minute treadmill run. This inaugural race was the first triathlon ever for more than 35 of the participants who overcame the challenge of combining these three sports into one race.
The overall female winner was Bridget Braham who accomplished this while combining a well balanced effort in the swim, bike and run. She also is a Summa Wellness Institute member showcasing her skills on her home court.
The mens overall winner was shared by George Cody and Jason Indorf. George accomplished his placing through a race best swim effort, while Jason had top performance of the day in the cycling studio.
Dave Kutcher, race director and club member at Vertical Runner Triathlon in Hudson, OH was very pleased with the turn-out and feedback from the race. The race sold out in its first year which is a tribute to the quality of the Summa Wellness Institute and what wonderful host they were to all of the athletes. While there were seasoned veterans competing, having 36 first time triathletes makes this race special in gaining new people to the sport Dave added, the goal of our club is to have people of all abilities work toward achieving their goals. For some this is accomplishing their first triathlon and so some had that goal fulfilled on Sunday
